The Power of Three: Symbolism of the Spiritual Marriage in Scripture and Imagination

The number three in the Bible is never just a number. It marks a pattern of divine process — a symbolic marriage that results in manifestation. Neville Goddard teaches that this is not external history, but psychological truth: a drama happening within you.

Three is the number of the creative act. Where two come together — the conscious and the subconscious — a third is born: the child, the result, the outer experience.

Spiritual Union: Conscious + Subconscious = Manifested Reality

Neville said the conscious mind is the male aspect: it chooses, directs, and impresses. The subconscious is the female: it receives impressions and gives form to them without questioning. When the two are in alignment — when the feeling of the wish fulfilled is fully accepted — the result is inevitable.

This spiritual marriage is the hidden structure behind:

  • The threefold cry of “Holy, holy, holy”: a sacred consummation.

  • The three days before resurrection: the period in which the assumption (seed) is buried in the subconscious (womb).

  • The Holy Trinity itself — not as theology, but as psychological sequence:

    • Father ("I AM)

    • Mother (subconscious response)

    • Son (manifested world)

Three in Hebrew Mysticism: The Path of Manifestation

In the Hebrew alphabet, the third letter is Gimel (ג). Traditionally, Gimel means “camel” — an image rich with symbolic weight. The camel is a carrier across deserts: it transports precious cargo from one place to another, sustaining life in the in-between. Likewise, Gimel represents the movement from inner to outer, from the invisible to the visible.

It is the letter of bridging, of bestowal — the act of carrying something across from the unseen to the seen. Gimel follows Beth (house) and Aleph (source), symbolising the emergence of the inner idea from its home in imagination into the external world.

It is the process of spiritual gestation — the unseen crossing the inner desert to arrive as form.

Why Three Matters Spiritually

Three is not about counting. It is about creation through alignment. In the context of imagination, it is:

  1. Impression — the conscious planting of a state (Father)

  2. Reception — the subconscious acceptance (Mother)

  3. Expression — the birth of the assumption as lived experience (Child)

In this way, three is the formula of manifestation. It is the mystical family. The holy household within.

Conclusion: The Sacred Formula Within You

When the conscious chooses and feels, and the subconscious accepts and believes, a third is always born. This is not poetry. It is the law. The number three symbolises the inner structure of creation: the sacred marriage, the hidden conception, and the inevitable birth.

“Holy, holy, holy” is not mere praise — it is the echo of a completed union.
The earth is full of His glory because the union was successful.
The Word was made flesh.

And in this sacred desert of the unseen, the camel moves silently, carrying your inner world toward its outer reflection.
